Unfortunately my home was flooded during hurricane Idalia. My immediate concern was, losing out on the holidays with my family. After interviewing several contractors, I never got the answer I was looking for. Not a single contractor said hosting Thanksgiving would be a possibility and only one seemed to think hosting Christmas was a possibility. A friend referred me to David Spence Inc. I called one day, he was out to assess the damage the next day. He was prepared to start immediately and was confident all repairs would be completed by Thanksgiving. Not only did David promise, but he delivered. He delivered not only on our originally planned repairs but also several, long awaited improvements I threw their way. From day one, David and his entire staff were professional, hardworking, kind and trusting. They were always available for any questions or concerns I may have. I plan to use David and his team again for any further home improvements or repairs I may have.

After sustaining damage from the past hurricane season, I needed a demo and restoration quote, as I was paying out of pocket. Most other companies I contacted provided vague, overpriced estimates with little to no itemization, and many wouldn’t even offer restoration quotes—overall, they seemed unaccustomed to working with out-of-pocket clients. A few companies simply ghosted me altogether. David Spence, on the other hand, was transparent from the start, laying out all available options with fair, upfront pricing—no surprises. They provided detailed renderings as part of their proposals and were more than willing to accommodate any requests or modifications. The project supervisor, Ken, was exceptionally polite, friendly, and attentive to detail. While there were minor issues along the way, both Ken and David were highly responsive and ensured everything was resolved smoothly. I would wholeheartedly recommend this company and wouldn’t hesitate to call them again for future work—hopefully for something unrelated to storm damage!

We had a leak in our foundation which allowed water to ruin our interior floor. We had a repair done in the past with no real improvement. So, we tried David Spence due to his reputation of fixing such problems. He showed on time to inspect and give an estimate. He answered many questions patiently and completely. When they arrived to do the work they worked steadily, neatly, and they were friendly and respectable. The work turned out to be more involved than expected. They did not argue to elevate the price, but stayed with the estimate. Our test was Hurricane Debby, which dumped more than 12 inches of water on our home. NOT A DROP of leakage! They called after the hurricane to check on how we fared. Highly recommend, especially for complicated jobs!

We've used David Spence for a few projects over the years, most recently for replacing all of our windows and doors with hurricane strength ones. The professionalism of the whole crew was amazing, and the job definitely met the goals we had. In the past we've also had David and his team put in a structural beam on our lanai so that we could remove two posts that were constantly in the way, and that job also was great. I'd definitely recommend David and his team for construction projects.

David Spence remodeled our entire kitchen and replaced the flooring in most of the house. I had a plan in mind, and David's team was able to execute it perfectly. All of the workers were respectful and professional. This extensive project was completed within budget and was finished several weeks early. I had a very positive experience and would not hesitate to recommend them.

We started a remodel project in 2018 with a few set backs and covid putting us on hold yet again, we were recommended David Spence and his team in 2022. We bit the bullet and hired David to head up our project that included a complete gut and addition using our porch as part of the kitchen. The project was to be started when we left for the summer and move in and ready for November. I can’t say enough about the whole process and the care that his team took to make sure my home was secure at all times. Communication was a must on this project and David was on top of all the minor set backs that come with an older home remodel. We got our new open concept Kitchen, complete master bath remodel, fireplace, new floors, repaint all rooms, new roof, concrete porch and driveway. Demolition started in July and project was completed by the 1st of November. With a few hiccup’s with the county and water dept after the decision to abandon our septic for city, David stood by us and fought through a lot of red tape to get us in our home as quickly as possible. I cannot say enough about David and his team and the beautiful work they did on our home. I would definitely recommend David and would definitely hire him for any new project.

I had David do restoration/remodel in my master bath which had water damage from a leak caused from a prior remodel done improperly. He did a great job. I also had him put in all new hurricane windows. I had issues with a bay window when installing the new window which he solved so that it looks better than it did before. He did a fantastic job. He did a great job on my foundation waterproofing. Did it fast even though two hurricanes were coming. He helped me protect the house before he could do the job by setting up a pump. I didn’t flood during Milton because of his water proofing. Would defin recommend him

We used David Spence and his team to repair a living room wall which was crumbling for no obvious reason. They were timely in their responses and always respectful and clear about what to expect. And of course they found the problem in short order - which unfortunately turned out to require a significant reconstruction of improperly placed drywall studs. Nevertheless, they had already given us a range of problem-dependent options with cost and timing, so there were no unwelcome or unanticipated surprises. The crew was clean and kind and respectful and diligent and the communication throughout the process was impeccable. They completed the job in even less time then they had anticipated and did so with a full and impeccable clean-up. I would highly recommend Mr. Spence and his company to anybody needing repairs or modifications or additions to their homes. You not only won't be disappointed - you will be impressed. David Spence Inc. remodeled my master bath and it is absolutely beautiful. I could not have asked for better workmanship and professionalism from his crew. David performed our kitchen, floors, fireplace, drywall, trim, electric...basically a full home renovation 4 years ago and the house still looks and feels new. Recently one of the cabinet sections became slightly loose at the wall and a door had fallen out of alignment. I called David to get his advice as I had planned to perform the repairs myself. Instead of giving me advice he insisted on coming out and scheduled a team of installers to perform the repairs the next day!!!!!!!!! I could not believe it. I can't say enough good things about David Spence and his team. From the get-go, they were responsive, professional and a pleasure to work with. My husband and I needed our small back deck rebuilt, and were hoping to complete the project within 4-6 weeks. We had called at least five other businesses but had trouble with people returning our calls, keeping their appointment times, quoting us exorbitant rates and not being able to even start the work for 2-3 months. When we called David Spence, his team answered right away and got us on the calendar for an estimate. When I asked about their credentials - just to be thorough - they directed me to the state website where I could find all of them. There must be 20+. David himself showed up to our house right on time for the review and estimate. He offered a range of options for our project and also offered us a very reasonable rate. He was able to get us on the calendar in just over a week, and his team completed the project in 1.5 days, doing exceptional work! We are absolutely thrilled with our new deck! Every single person who was on site was great to work with - kind, professional, communicative, flexible. There were a couple of questions and additional needs that came up during our project, and with the help of the site crew, David and his outstanding office team, we were able to resolve any question or need that arose in just a few minutes. When the project was complete, his team followed up, and they even sent a thank-you note expressing gratitude for our trust. David and his team did an outstanding job renovating the entire inside of our house, as well as painting the outside. His attention to detail and customer satisfaction was beyond exceptional. I highly recommend him.

I needed a whole new deck (new wood, new handrails and eventually staining). First I must note that David was the third and final contractor I talked to when I was venturing into this project, and I went with him bc of his great customer service, wide range of knowledge and quick response time. The other people didn’t even return my calls! He first came out last summer to give me a quote and was extremely thorough with all the information. He recommended I go with the aluminum handrails and I love them. I wouldn’t have thought to even ask for that. His suggestions were all very helpful. Last July is when the project for the actual deck was completed, and I was relieved and impressed his crew able to start the work so soon after my initial meeting with David. I was nervous what old rotting of wood they would find underneath the original deck, and there was just a little bit, but luckily, David’s crew fixed that by supporting some of the soft spots with new wood. I was thrilled they helped improve that and now I feel much better about it in general. The project took about 4ish days (understandably) and I was left with a beautiful new porch that I absolutely love. The staining took place about two months ago, and it looks great as well. David is also great about fixing some of the general little issues that occur later, like wood panels popping up. I would highly recommend David and his crew for your next home improvement project!

I hired David Spence, Inc. to do work in my home in 2017, oddly a few weeks ago and today I received ask to leave review (March 2024). To be frank, the project was completed and a few hiccups along the way— in the end small errors made that I had to live with because they were unwilling to fix or take accountability for the work. They hired subcontractors to do a lot of the work which wasn’t up to standard of which I knew David assured me. In addition, the office manager Kristy was abrasive many times during the interaction.

My experience with David Spence Inc was superior!! I had not done any remodeling before until this project. David and his staff were very knowledgeable, kind, and very patient with all my questions. I was always prepared ahead of time by the owner or staff about what to expect with the whole process. The construction crew in my home were nothing but professional, polite, and on time. Not only did I have a complete remodel take place during by busiest season for my line of work, we had the COVID-19 pandemic, and a 14 day quarantine for me. Needless to say I was a bit stressed! The owner of the company prayed for me when he saw the stress of everything overcome me. That is going above and beyond in my book and was greatly appreciated!! A very positive experience. First, David was professional and on-time for the first “exploratory” visit. When we decided on the work he was very informative & thorough with timeline expectations and the contract. When work began, they showed up bright and early (everyday of the work), cheerful and ready to get to work. These guys are great. David recently completed a remodel for us at a single family home in South Tampa. His team did a outstanding job and we had a wonderful experience. David and his team helped me with a water intrusion issue in my condominium. I had a report from a leak tracking company as to the location of the leak. Additionally, David spent a great deal of time, trying to think like water and identify sources of secondary leaks. DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE I'm changing this review as I have been left with a leaky sunroom, and out of $1100.00. This contractor will stay with you as long as things go right. I paid in full David Spence to fix a leak in my sunroom. After the repairs was done my sunroom still leaked in the same exact spot David Spence was to repair. I called 3 times as my sunroom never stopped leaking. Mr Spence took an attitude to my displeasure after his 3 attempts to fix the leak in my sunroom. As I continued to place buckets in my sunroom to catch the water coming in. Twice I sent him pictures of the leak. David Spence gave up on the job. This leak is still happening. As I try to get a honest and real contractor that will not walk off the job even though his work was warranted for 1 year. Mr. Spence resolution was to return half of what was paid for this work. GOOD, heck no! I'm out of $1100.00 and still have the same problem David Spence was supposed to have repaired. So my recommendation to those who use David Spence, I hope all goes right for you. Quality of work was no where near what I was expecting. Tile work had to be completely redone and even the redone tile is not level. Gap along vanity... Not a true finished professional job which is what I was expecting to get. Communication between David, the office staff, and myself was an issue. Our initial meeting was great, I was told all these things they would do... however, the interpretation and translation to the actual contract was much different. Ended up with multiple misunderstandings resulting in rework and extra costs that I had to pay. Flexibility to work with me was difficult. I provided notice to the team members working the days that I would not be available due to my work travels. This information was not conveyed to the office and I ended up getting blamed for delays due to having to be out of town. I made arrangements to have a friend come and let them continue their job while I was out of town for work so as to accommodate them. The items that were done better and professional in my opinion were the Shower Doors and the Countertop installation... both of these were sub-contracted out to other companies who had better skilled workers. I am glad the bathroom is done, I just wish I had used someone else. Way overpriced for the quality of the work provided. See photos of the uneven tile work and the gap left by the vanity that they installed.

Remodeled the entire sun room. Leveled and re-tiled flooring, installed new drywall and resurfaced the ceiling (including installing recessed lighting). Receptionist was very nice but informed me that the guys coming out to do estimates don't wear masks (for COVID). Unfortunately they would have had to be in my home and during a pandemic I'd rather not have unnecessary exposure!

Called them repeatedly to get a quote for sound proofing a room. I spoke to a woman twice was promised a call back twice that never happened. I selects a different vendor because of this.
